Nigeria’s President, Bola Tinubu, has approved the appointment of David Daser as the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Digital Bridge Institute (DBI), an international centre for ICT studies established by the Nigerian Communications Commission in 2004.

Daser, the founder of nHub—the first innovation hub in northern Nigeria—served as the Director-General of the Plateau State Information and Communication Technology Development Agency (PICTDA) during the administration of former governor Simon Lalong. At PICTDA, he pioneered the now-defunct Code Plateau, a tech skill acquisition boot camp that trained over 3000 youths in the state and environs.

This programme bears similarities to the ongoing 3MTT initiative under Tinubu’s administration.

Local industry analysts believe Daser’s contributions to tech and entrepreneurial talent development through nHub and PICTDA have positioned him as a leading candidate to head DBI and its campuses in Abuja, Lagos, Yola, and Kano.

“He is an academic and industry expert with a deep understanding of digital technologies and educational leadership,” said Ajuri Ngelale, Tinubu’s spokesperson. Daser remarked, “This is an opportunity to further energise Nigeria’s emerging tech ecosystem and support the government in developing the digital skills needed to make Nigeria a key player in Africa’s tech sector.”

Following his tenure as PICTDA’s Director-General, Daser returned to nHub as its Director of Startup Growth and Public Policy, a role he held until this recent appointment.

Daser holds a degree in Biochemistry from the University of Jos, where he also obtained a National Diploma in Computer Science. He further earned a Master’s degree in Research and Public Policy from the same university and a Master’s in Society and Development Studies from the University of Abuja. He is currently pursuing a doctoral programme in Public Policy and Governance.

Between 2018 and 2023, Daser was a member of the Nigerian Presidential Advisory Council on Technology and Creativity.
