Barr Caleb Mutfwang, the incoming governor of Plateau State, and Ngo Josephine Piyo, the incoming deputy governor, have each been given the Certificate of Return by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The presentation was done by Resident Electoral Commissioner Plateau State, Dr. Oliver Agundu, and Honourable National Commissioner, Muhammad Haruna Kudu, who simultaneously delivered the certificates. They stated that individuals getting the certificate had complied with legal criteria and that INEC had made every effort to guarantee free, fair, and credible elections in which the electorate’s ballots were counted.
Moreover, certificates of return were given to the 24 incoming members of the House of Assembly. Of the 24, 16 were elected on the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), 7 on the APC platform, and 1 member-elect on the YPP platform.
Plateau Governor-elect Caleb Mutfwang thanked the people for their support and assured them that he and his team will provide inclusive leadership in the state shortly after the presentation.
An overjoyed Mutfwang praised INEC for standing out and conducting itself honorably throughout the election and urged his rivals to join him in serving the Plateau people and avoid squandering time and energy on legal battles because his election represented the people’s collective voice carrying both their aspiration and hope.
He declared, “INEC on the Plateau has performed honorably. While it is true that some of the ad-hoc employees attempted to sabotage the process at various points, the leadership of INEC on the Plateau kept its ground and followed the right process of law, which is why today it has ended the process that has caused jubilation throughout the country.
Mutfwang underlined the necessity for him and his team to get started right away on May 29 and pledged to work with Members-elect to deliver grandeur and wealth to the Plateau people.
