Hours Later, Police and Benue Gov’t Remain Silent on Kidnapped Medical Students

News Room 7 months ago 0 27

More than 24 hours have passed since the abduction of 20 medical students from the University of Jos and University of Maiduguri in Benue, yet the state government and police command have failed to issue an official statement.

The majority of the kidnapped students hail from Benue, including Aondona Kingsley, who made a desperate plea for help on social media, revealing that the captors are demanding a 50 million Naira ransom and threatening to kill the students by Saturday.

Despite initial comments from Catherine Anene, spokesperson for the Benue Police Command, in response to media inquiries, no further updates have been provided.

The incident has sparked widespread outrage on social media, with many demanding swift action from the authorities to ensure the students’ safe release.
