On a calm Sunday evening in Rayfield, Jos, the atmosphere inside Simmer Restaurant and Lounge carried a quiet anticipation. It was a gathering that did not rely on spectacle to command attention, but instead encouraged something rarer within Nigeria’s music scene, the act of listening.

Creatives, media personalities, music lovers, and members of the local art community had come together for a private listening session for What If We Fall, the new collaborative EP by Mün The Shinobi and Annie Daymar, hosted by Synapse Collective and powered by Experience Plateau, a platform designed to spotlight Plateau State’s tourism, music and arts ecosystem while connecting artists, brands, and audiences through curated experiential events.

Unlike a typical album launch, where music competes with cameras and chatter, the evening was intentionally intimate. Guests settled into their seats, interacting, some quietly examining the Experience Plateau merch displayed around the room—branded tote bags, caps, and limited-edition prints—which served as both memorabilia and a subtle reminder of the platform’s mission to elevate local creativity. When the first track “What” began, a hush fell over the room, signaling that the audience was ready not just to hear the music, but to feel it.

What If We Fall opens with a reflective tone, immediately setting the emotional direction for the EP. Mün The Shinobi’s introspective lyricism and Annie Daymar’s textured vocals blend seamlessly, creating a sense of dialogue that runs through the project. The songs explore vulnerability, uncertainty, and the emotional risk inherent in love, seen in both life and creativity. As the tracks played, listeners leaned forward in their seats, nodding along, clearly invested in the narrative.

During a pause in the session, Mün spoke candidly about the process behind the project.

“This EP was about love,” he said.

“It is a 4-track and 11 minute EP that takes you on a journey on What If We Fall. It starts with the questions of ‘what’ and ends on ‘fall’ letting you in on the journey of love. It gives you perspective on love and we wanted the music to feel honest and lived in. That’s where its strength comes from.”

Annie Daymar added that the title itself reflects the core question behind the project.

“What If We Fall is about relationships,” she said.

“It gives you the answers to questions around what relationships are about. The thought of love is universal, and we wanted people in the room to feel it in this room tonight.”

The conversation naturally expanded to the broader mission of Experience Plateau, with guests and organizers highlighting how the platform provides opportunities for local artists to reach new audiences while creating spaces that encourage the promotion of tourism on the Plateau. The displayed merchandise on its shop showed its array of products available for sale. Also, it showed its  “Leaderboard”, a tool that showcased the best of creators across fashion, lifestyle, comedy, and lots more, who are seen as the key storytellers of the state through their content.

Musically, the EP moves fluidly between alternative soul, Afro-inspired rhythms, hip-hop, and stripped-down arrangements that give the lyrics room to breathe. The production avoids unnecessary complexity, allowing the emotional weight of the songs to come through. By the time the final track, Fall, played, the audience was fully absorbed, reflecting a collective understanding of the EP’s themes of trust, risk, and emotional honesty.

As the evening wound down, guests lingered, continuing discussions sparked by both the music and the platform behind it. The event had transformed from a listening session into a shared experience of creativity and community, highlighting how locally grounded initiatives can elevate both artists and audiences.

Stepping out into the Jos night, the title of the EP lingered like an unfinished thought.

What if we fall?

For Mün, Annie, and the guests who experienced the evening, it became clear that sometimes the courage to ask that question whether as an artist, a listener, or a community is where the real story begins.
