NiMet Forecasts Three-Day Dust Haze Starting Tuesday

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency, NiMet, has forecasted a three-day period of dust haze from Tuesday to Thursday nationwide. NiMet’s weather outlook, released on Monday in Abuja, predicts thick dust haze to significantly reduce horizontal visibility to 1km or less in the northern region on Tuesday.

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency, NiMet, has forecasted a three-day period of dust haze from Tuesday to Thursday nationwide. NiMet’s weather outlook, released on Monday in Abuja, predicts thick dust haze to significantly reduce horizontal visibility to 1km or less in the northern region on Tuesday.

The agency also expects moderate dust haze with a horizontal visibility range of 1km to 3km and localized visibility of less than or equal to 1km over the North Central region and South during the forecast period.

For Wednesday, NiMet anticipates thick dust haze to persist, reducing horizontal visibility to 1km or less in the northern region and North Central states.

Moderate dust haze, with a horizontal visibility range of 1km to 3km and localized visibility of less than or equal to 1km, is expected over the Inland region and coastal areas of the South throughout the forecast period.

On Thursday, NiMet projects thick to moderate dust haze to continue, reducing horizontal visibility to 1km or less in the North and North Central regions. Additionally, moderate dust haze with a horizontal visibility range of 1km to 3km and localized visibility of less than or equal to 1km is expected in the Inland region of the South during the forecast period.

The agency also foresees early morning mist or fog patches over the coastal areas of the South, with patches of cloud in the hazy atmosphere later in the day.
