Omoluabi Festival 2.0 Celebrates Outstanding sons, Daughters

Durueke Solomon Ekenedirichukwu and many Yoruba sons and daughters win awards in the Omoluabi Oyo festival 2.0 in Ibadan, Oyo State.

The event which was organised by the Yoruba Council of Yoruba Youths Worldwide (YCYW) was held on 2nd October 2023 at the Ilaji Resort and Sports Resort, Ibadan.

The event which aims to promote culture, values and the Yoruba cultural heritage also celebrated individuals who embody the qualities and values of the Omoluabi.

Receiving his award, Mr. Solomon Ekenedirichukwu appreciated the organisers of the event for acknowledging his work and promised to continue to uphold the Yoruba culture through his bead work.

“I am delighted to be awarded the “Outstanding Bead Jeweller 2023” today. Beads have significant cultural meanings and we will not let that fizzle out, I will continue to do my best to uphold our cultural heritage for generations to come,” he said.

The outstanding bead maker incorporates conventional and innovative trends in his art work to make him stand out among many.

Omoluabi” is a Yoruba philosophical and cultural concept used to describe a person of good character.”

The event was graced by the national patron of the YCYW, the Jagun Olubadan of Ibadanland, Dotun Sanusi, Chairman of Ilaji Hotels and Sports Resort and the global president of Yoruba Council Worldwide, Oba, Oladotun Hassan among many others.

Chairman of the YCYW Oyo State council, Alawode Rahmon congratulated the awardees while also urging them to continue to represent and uphold the cultural significance and values of Omoluabi wherever they are.

He also expressed gratitude to God and supporting brands for the success of the Omoluabi festival 2.0.
