Police Investigate Suspected Bomb Threat In Jos Terminus Market, Declare Area Safe
Plateau State Police responded swiftly to a suspected bomb threat early Tuesday morning, following reports of a suspiciously shallow dug hole near Old Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH) on Ahmadu Bello Way in Jos, Plateau State. The incident, reported around 8:20 a.m., sparked panic among nearby residents as speculation spread that the site might contain an improvised explosive device (IED).
Acting on the report, Plateau State Commissioner of Police Emmanuel Olugbemiga Adesina directed the Area Commander Metro and the head of the Command’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Unit to deploy a team of bomb technicians. Working alongside officers from “C” Division, the Anti-Bomb Squad promptly arrived at the scene, cordoning off the area to ensure public safety.
After a thorough examination by the EOD team, the hole was deemed safe, with no explosive devices detected.
Commissioner Adesina, along with other senior officers, also conducted an on-site assessment to reassure residents of the area’s security. He expressed appreciation to Plateau State residents for their vigilance and cooperation during the investigation, urging the public to resume their daily activities without fear.
