At about 11:20 AM on Sunday, February 4, the national grid experienced a collapse, resulting in widespread power outages throughout the country.
According to Friday Elijah, the spokesperson for Jos Electricity Distribution (JED), the power supply will be restored to normal levels once the grid supply returns to stability.
Prior to the grid collapse, residents of Plateau state and other franchise states of JED—Bauchi, Venue, and Gombe—had been enduring load shedding due to reduced power allocation from the national grid.
This incident marks the first grid collapse of the year, following approximately 50 occurrences between 2017 and 2023.
