In response to the recent devastating assaults claiming over 200 lives across Bokkos, Mangu, and Barkin Ladi local government areas in Plateau state, President Bola Tinubu has given the green light for the immediate establishment of a Military Barracks.
Situated in Miller Farm (Gada Biyu) Mbar District of Bokkos local government area, the Barracks aims to provide a strategic stronghold against the escalating security threats in the region.
President Tinubu has tasked General Christopher Musa, the Chief of Defense Staff, with overseeing the swift implementation of this critical measure to tackle the security challenges head-on.
Former Plateau state governor, Joshua Dariye, had previously endeavored to pave the way for the Barracks’ establishment to stem the tide of relentless attacks, safeguarding lives, and preventing widespread looting and property destruction.
Once operational, the Barracks will be poised to swiftly respond to and mitigate the persistent onslaughts and fatalities occurring in Bokkos, Mangu, Riyom, Barkin Ladi, and neighboring Nasarawa state.
This initiative gains heightened significance in the wake of the coordinated assaults, rampant looting, and loss of life that ravaged communities on Christmas Eve of 2023 in Bokkos, Mangu, and Barkin Ladi local government areas.
