The Action Democratic Party claimed victory in the rerun election at Rabin Du polling unit, Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau state on Saturday.
Rabin Du, the polling unit of former Governor Jonah Jang, had 334 registered voters, of which 194 were accredited. ADP secured 159 votes, defeating six other participating parties, as collated by the Presiding Officer, Lassa Abacha.
The breakdown of scores shows AA received 1 vote, APC 2, MAP 2, ADC 12, and LP 15. Additionally, 134 ballot papers were unused, and 7 were marked as “Spoiled.” Former Governor Jonah Jang, who voted earlier, lamented the poor voter turnout during the rerun.
In interviews, Jang blamed the exclusion of his party, the PDP, from participating in the rerun, which he believed had dampened people’s morale. He emphasized, “Plateau is PDP and PDP is Plateau.”
