Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, has ordered the immediate closure of Saints Academy, a primary and secondary school in Busa Buji, Jos North, following the collapse of a two-storey building within the school compound that resulted in the tragic loss of 22 lives and injured dozens, including students and teachers.
During a visit to the scene and hospitals where the victims are receiving treatment, Governor Mutfwang announced that the state government will conduct a thorough investigation into the incident and enforce the Executive Order on building safety in the state.
Prior to the governor’s announcement, Hart Bankat, General Manager of the Jos Metropolitan Development Board, had ordered the demolition of the remaining affected structures within the school compound. By 6 pm yesterday, the facility had been leveled to the ground, as confirmed by Joey Off Air.
