In preparation for Saturday’s rerun election in Plateau North Senatorial zone and Jos North Bassa federal constituency, Commissioner of Police, CP Steve Yabanet, emphasized the crucial role of security agents in creating a secure atmosphere for voters. Addressing security agencies at the state Police command headquarters in Jos, CP Yabanet urged them to ensure an enabling environment for electorates to cast their votes without fear.
During the meeting, the Commissioner challenged security agents to prioritize the protection of INEC officials and materials, emphasizing the need for impartiality and dedication to their duties. He specifically called for the enforcement of movement restrictions within the Northern zone without compromise, ensuring that only those on essential duties are exempted.
Furthermore, CP Yabanet emphasized the responsibility of security agents to escort INEC officials and materials to the coalition center, staying vigilant until results are announced. The state command has already deployed over 5000 security agents across the six local governments in the Northern zone, reinforcing their commitment to a safe and fair electoral process.
